It was one of those synchronistic things. One day last January I began thinking about this painting, La Virgen Negra by Alfredo Arreguin.
It might sound weird, but it was almost as if she was calling to me.
You see, a few years earlier, I’d seen her at a gallery show where I was absolutely mesmerized. In fact, the photo I’d taken of her got pasted onto my 2020 vision board!
Realizing I needed to say something to my husband, I confessed that I wanted to purchase this painting.
Surprise, surprise, he was receiving the same guidance!
Needless to say, we reached out to the artist, and by the next week the painting was in our home.
But here’s the curious bit. I had NO idea why she had called to me.
What I began to discover as I sat in her presence, was her unconditional love.❤️
She kept inviting me to step into her. I know that sounds so odd, but her dress looks open, as if she is a doorway into the jungle garden. So I began going on adventures with her.
We know from science that the color black holds every other color. And just as that is true, I began to understand that her blackness encompassed everything, and every single part of me. As I relaxed into that recognition, I began to feel held and supported in new and profound ways.
I also noticed that she was constantly inviting me to reconnect and heal any dissociated or wounded parts of myself.
Her invitation was to bring every single part of myself to her.
I’m sharing her with you today because we are ALL in need of her unconditional love and acceptance.

I cannot express the gratitude I feel about her. Her presence has profoundly changed my life, allowing me to experience such incredible abiding love, as well as a sense of serenity and wholeness. I am unutterably changed since she came to stay with us.
