whenever you are creating beauty around you, you are restoring your soul. -Alice Walker
We have all come here to create. In fact, one of my favorite lines from the Christian mystical text, A Course in Miracles reminds us of this:
“Child of God, you are here to create the good, the beautiful, and the holy. Do not forget this.”
Lately, my creativity is being expressed in a variety of ways.
Inspiration:
I’ve written two memoirs focused on spirituality which is my passion, and am currently working on a YA epic fantasy! Learn more HERE (or below).
I also love to express myself visually. I have dabbled in a variety of medium, beginning with embroidery, then printmaking & paper collage. I then turned my scope to beaded jewelry. From there, basket weaving. Currently, I make woven sculptures as well as enamel and metal mobiles.
Visual Artist’s Statement:
I am fascinated by 3-D form, by sculpture and how nature constantly creates art all around me. My art feels whimsical as well as sacred. It is both fun for me as well as (mostly) fun to look at. It’s about capturing joy.
Currently, I weave with organic materials (linen, hemp, reed, cane, cedar, etc). I also enjoy combining media and integrating found and/or sentimental objects into pieces. Most recently I’ve been exploring enamel and creating mobiles…
