Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude

It’s already November! This year is flying by!!

As we move into the end of the year, it can be a wonderful time to pause and reflect. Whenever I think about that, it immediately drops me into gratitude.

So, for the next few weeks, I thought it’d be fun to do a deep dive into gratitude.

WHY?

Because gratitude will – if you practice it- change your life.

I’m serious.

Don’t roll your eyes until you’ve tried it.

On the most basic level, gratitude can be defined as having thanks and/or appreciation for someone or something in your life.

What might some of those be?

Can you make a LIST (5) of people or things you’re grateful for right now?

When we approach gratitude from this angle, it’s an expression of our appreciation for the good we have in our lives.

In other words, it’s a reaction to the people, situations, and circumstances we experience.

This exercise is about cultivating an attitude of gratitude or an attitude of appreciation.

  • I am thankful that I have clean air to breathe.

  • I am thankful that my mother is safe.

  • I am thankful that my pets are healthy.

  • I am thankful that the medications are working and __ is pain free.

When we focus on what we’re grateful for, we take CONTROL of our thought process.

Rather than seeing what we do not have, we focus on what we DO have.

In other words, it helps us surrender our thoughts of lack.

And as we begin to do this on a more sustained and regular basis, we actually start to feel happier.

In fact, many happiness researchers claim that having a gratitude practice is the shortest shortcut back to feeling happy, more connected to creation, to oneness, and source!

So, for the remainder of this month, commit to naming 5 things you’re grateful for.

Do this before you go to sleep every night.
