SOOO glad that last email was helpful to you. 🙏🏼
I’m gonna keep going!
This week, let’s focus on freedom from uncertainty or maybe a better phrase is managing uncertainty.
I mean, let’s be honest. This is a MAJOR challenge for all of us.
When we face uncertainty, it can often cause doubt, fear, insecurity, unworthiness… and the list goes on.
And yet, life is change. Life is constant change. We see it everywhere. Leaves sprout in the spring, green in the summer, yellow in the autumn, turn brown and fall off in the winter.
We live amidst cyclical change that occurs naturally and it impacts us as well. Yet change can also feel difficult to manage. Especially when it’s unexpected or unwarranted.
So here are a few tips to help you navigate this landscape.
Again, let’s start with a mindfulness practice.
This one is called Box Breathing. Here are the steps:
Breathe in for 4 seconds
Hold it for 4 seconds
Exhale for 4 seconds
You don’t have to do it for long, a minute or two will allow you to feel more centered. Give it a go!
The second one that I use A LOT is the Serenity Prayer.
I’m sure you’re familiar with it, and I’ll write it below for your easy reference.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
The courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference.
The invitation with this prayer is to focus on what we actually have agency over, which is ourselves.
It’s super common to have our thoughts get hijacked and then fall into overwhelm by all the illness, death, and worldly challenges everywhere, most of which are out of our control. This overwhelm can lead to feelings of hopelessness, powerlessness and even depression.
Instead, by focusing on what we do control, we feel empowered and from there can actually effect change.
My last go-to is a line from A Course in Miracles. It’s my add on to the Serenity Prayer.
I take all of the challenges of the world that I cannot change, give them to God (universe, consciousness) and I say, “I put the future in God’s hands.”
How about trying any or all of these and see if managing change in your life feels a bit easier.
As always, let me know how it goes!
