Having fun connecting with the Divine Feminine? Doesn’t it feel amazing?
Here’s another way to connect to that essence.
It’s our last mothering tool.
Can you guess what it is?
Yes, it’s connecting to the great goddess on which we live and get ALL of our physical sustenance and nourishment, Mother Earth.
During the Covid lockdown, I did a wonderful initiation into seeing the earth as Tara- Tara Gaia. And yet, there are countless first nations who have and continue to honor the earth as our sacred mother.
Here’s a beautiful way of seeing it through a Navajo prayer:
As a way to more deeply connect to that essence and root into the sacredness of the earth, I thought I’d offer you three simple and easy practices. (Of course, there are so many rituals you could do, too!)
1. Earthing
What is this?
It’s walking on the ground without shoes, in your bare feet and allowing yourself to feel the ground under your feet.
What does it do?
It helps your body get re-balanced.
According to the website, earthingharmony.com:
“The Earth carries a mild negative charge, and when we make skin contact with it—by walking barefoot on grass or sand, for example—our bodies absorb free electrons that help neutralize harmful free radicals. This process can reduce inflammation and support the body's natural healing power…
This is not just theory. Studies in electrical engineering have confirmed that the human body stabilizes electrically when grounded, and imaging technologies like infrared images show reduced inflammation after grounding sessions. This natural transfer of electrons may be the missing link in our modern health equation.”
So, put your bare feet on the grass, sand, or soil.
2. Garden or Do Some Planting
Gardening is a great excuse to get outside. Not only does it offer robust physical exercise – think lifting, bending, stretching… but studies show it also has cognitive benefits including: reducing anxiety, increasing cortisol, improving mood, and encouraging mindfulness, among others.
So why not do it?
When I lived in an apartment, I had quite the potted plant garden . All you need is a little inspiration and creativity.
3. Lay Down
Here’s my personal favorite.
This is my outdoor version of Lesson 109 from A Course in Miracles which is “I rest in God.”
Allow yourself to lie on the grass or sand. A blanket is welcome.
Feel yourself melt into the ground. (I like to do this while lying on my back.)
Allow yourself to genuinely rest each part of your body. Feel held by the earth.
Let Mother Earth take all that which you do not need.
Why not try all of these? It will certainly help you to reconnect to the Earth and its presence.
Have fun and be sure to let me know how it goes.
