It’s true, we ALL suffer from feeling like there’s something missing, or we aren’t good enough, or that we’re lacking in some way…
Certainly, the human part of us can fall into this kind of thinking. Especially when we feel anxious or fearful.
I think it’s helpful to recognize that we encounter feelings of lack or not enough-ness when we either feel separate from the one-ness and disconnected from the universe, OR we identify and believe we are our self image / personality which comes with, according to Robert Holden’s new book on the Enneagram, a core sense of deficiency.
Each one of us has our version of not being enough. What’s yours?
Here are some of the ways you might feel that:
“I’m not good enough. If I were truly good, I wouldn’t make mistakes.”
“My needs will not be met. I’m not lovable enough. If I stop being needed, will I still be loved?”
“My best is not good enough. What I do is not enough. Who I am is not enough. I’m not valuable enough. If I’m not impressive, do I even matter?”
“I am flawed and without beauty. Something essential is missing in me. Why do others seem complete while I feel incomplete?”
“I’m not smart enough. I’m not ready enough to begin! I don’t have enough (knowledge, energy, capacity).”
“I am without guidance. I’m not secure or certain enough. I am not capable.”
“I don’t have enough of what I want – not enough time or options. There won’t be enough – joy, options, fulfillment. I don’t want to miss out.”
“The universe doesn’t have my back. I’m not safe or strong enough. I’m afraid of feeling vulnerable.”
“I’m not sure my presence makes any real difference. I don’t matter enough. If I assert myself, will I lose connection? I’m not significant enough to make a difference in the world.”
What a list!
Once you’ve identified your core challenge, the question then is how do we manage it?
We use this re-set and remember that:
♡ Don’t try to solve this sense of lack/separation on your own.
♡ USE IT – Meet it with love, surround it with love, bring all of you back to the BIG LOVE of God and remember that you’re not alone.
♡ Lack does not exist in the creation of God/LOVE.
♡ You always have been and will always be one with the universe and a part of God.
As Hollie Holden said the other day, “not-aloneness is all God is.” Tune back into the essence of your divine connection with everything and feel that sense of lack dissolve.
So good!
